At the age of 37 and shortly after having a baby, Sally Hunt was elected general secretary of the Association of University Teachers in 2002, becoming only the second woman to head the organisation. Hunt notes that she dislikes the term superwoman, claiming that what she does well is exhaustion. Her stated aim is to create a strong, united and powerful profession.
